Gábor Koltai is one of the region's top film producers and is based in Budapest, Hungary. He is the son of renowned Hungarian actor/director Róbert Koltai and actress Judit Pogány. After a successful career in finance at such firms as KPMG and TEVA, Koltai made the move to film, following in the footsteps of his parents and motivated by his love of movies. He is the producer of the five million dollar international co-production 'Magic Boys' starring 'Michael Madsen' and Vinnie Jones, slated for theatrical release in October 18, 2012. His cultish, sci-fi production 'Cycle' premiered at the 2012 Sci-Fi London Film Festival as well as the Moscow Film Festival and is scheduled for theatrical release in 3D in February 2013. Koltai also acted as co-producer on the soon to be released 'Tüskevár' and as producer on the 2007 Hungarian blockbuster 'Megy a gözös'. Koltai is also involved in the pre-production and production of several animated series and feature length films for children, such as "The Wheelers" (theatrical release scheduled for Easter 2013), 'Micropolis' and 'The Hammerman'. Controversy surrounding allegations of tax fraud have landed Koltai in hot water with the authorities and the general public. In November 2010, Koltai was taken from his home by commandos and spent five months under preliminary arrest and a further five under house arrest. The allegations suggest that Koltai committed tax fraud, based on films, which were never produced. This is counter to newspaper reports, which falsely allege that Koltai misappropriated government subsidies. Of the supposedly fictitious films, most have been produced in their entirety, or are in process, and the authorities have yet to prove otherwise. They are however, legally bound to close the investigation by end of November 2012, but since the start of the investigation (begun eight months prior to his arrest) Koltai was not asked to make a statement on his behalf, even though he offered to do so on numerous occasions. Despite all these setbacks, Gábor Koltai has remained very active in the field and is confident that these difficult times will soon be behind him. The remainder of 2012 and the first half of 2013 promises to be a productive period for Koltai, with many of his film scheduled to hit theatres, and a number of films slated for production and post production.- Katinka Egres was born on 5 January 1984 in Kaposvár, Hungary.
